On July 6, the opening ceremony of the University of Sussex Turing Programme Summer School was held at Zhejiang Gongshang University (ZJSU). Xu Zhenghan, Vice Dean of the School of International Education, attended and delivered a speech. Jiang Zihao, Director of International Student Administration at the School, and all students from the University of Sussex participated in the ceremony. The four-week programme, encompassing Chinese language training, business study tours, and traditional Chinese cultural experiences, was officially inaugurated.
On behalf of the university, Vice Dean Xu Zhenghan extended a warm welcome to the University of Sussex delegation. She expressed her hope that students would deepen their understanding of Chinese campus life and society through firsthand experiences, and take away a fulfilling and memorable exchange. She also offered practical tips on safety, dietary habits, and weather changes to help students better adapt to their study visit at ZJSU.
The summer school features a rich and multifaceted curriculum. In addition to foundational Chinese language courses, students can take specialised modules including "Macro Finance: Practices from China," "Cross-border E-commerce and Platform Operations," and "Experience China." Traditional Chinese cultural workshops—such as calligraphy, traditional Chinese painting, and Baduanjin qigong—offer an up-close encounter with intangible cultural heritage. Outside the classroom, field trips to cultural sites in Zhenhai and the China National Tea Museum provide immersive learning opportunities. These experiences will help British students gain a comprehensive and multidimensional appreciation of Chinese civilization.
The successful launch of the University of Sussex Turing Programme Summer School reflects the deep foundation of friendship between the two institutions and marks a new opportunity to deepen cross-border educational collaboration. ZJSU and the University of Sussex have long maintained a close and productive partnership.
