Recently, the award ceremony and associated events of the 7th “Third Eye on China” International Short Video Contest 2025 were held in Beijing. The “Focus on Anji Series,” submitted by the Publicity Department of the Anji County Party Committee, received an Excellence Award. Lina (CASTIBLANCO DIAZ LINA MARIA)—a Colombian national, a graduate of the Tourism Management program at ZJSU’s School of Tourism and Urban-Rural Planning, a cross-border e-commerce livestreamer and a Hangzhou cultural tourism ambassador—took part in filming an episode of the series titled “Being and Making: The Bamboo Dialogues in Anji.” In Anji, known as China’s foremost home of bamboo, the episode uses immersive experiences to present bamboo weaving crafts and bamboo-based applications, telling Anji’s green-development story through bamboo as its medium.

The “Third Eye on China” International Short Video Contest is organized by China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration and has long called on Chinese and international creator teams to submit multilingual, multimedia short videos on China. Over seven years, it has grown into a comprehensive new-media international communication brand encompassing foreign-language short video creation, an annual contest, themed competitions, screenings, creator exchange events and themed field trips. This year’s edition received 45,880 entries from 128 countries and regions across 26 languages, from which 85 outstanding works were selected.
Lina (CASTIBLANCO DIAZ LINA MARIA) is from Colombia and was a 2021-entry master’s student in Tourism Management at ZJSU’s School of Tourism and Urban-Rural Planning. She has been actively involved in international communication and city cultural tourism promotion: in 2023 she won the Cultural Promotion Contribution Award at the “Telling China’s Story” international student “Cultural Trade” talent selection; she took part in promotion for the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, appearing in the Asian Games theme song “Asian Games Fever” and in experience-based content such as “Foreigners View the Asian Games,” and she posted short videos on the Hangzhou Asian Games and West Lake culture on overseas social media, content that was reposted by the official platform of the Colombian Embassy in China. In 2023, Lina attended a welcome banquet hosted by China for the President of Colombia as an international student representative; in 2024 she appeared on CGTN to share her experience of living and starting a business in Hangzhou. She now runs her own company in Hangzhou and leads the “Colombian Friends Visit Hangzhou” project, exploring how cultural-tourism integration can promote two-way trade cooperation.
Looking ahead, ZJSU will continue to follow and support its alumni as they practice and grow in international communication, cultural-tourism integration and cross-cultural exchange, telling China’s story well and presenting a truer, more multidimensional and more comprehensive image of China to the world.
